AUG 10, 2017 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OHIO: Today, Samuel Ronan is announcing his official bid to run for Congress in Ohio’s 1st Congressional District. For Sam, this is a moment 4 years in the making. When the government shutdown in 2013 while Sam was stationed in Little Rock, Arkansas, he realized that our government no longer served the interests of the American People, and that the oath he swore to defend our nation was not being upheld. How could he continue to protect and serve the Constitution of the United States, when the men and women deciding its fate were themselves undermining the Constitution?
That was the question Sam asked himself as he embarked on his journey into politics. He spent 2 years developing his own policies and platforms until he was able to separate from active duty, enter the active reserves, and move back to his native Ohio.
He would take his populist message of fighting for the people into his run for State Representative in Ohio’s 62nd district. Although unsuccessful, he was undeterred by the loss, and decided to embark on a mission to reform the party that used to stand up for working people in America, but have lost their way due to the corrupting influence of money in politics.
In early 2017, Sam decided to run for the vacated DNC Chair position, feeling that nobody in the chair race was calling out the DNC for their lack of impartiality during the 2016 Democratic Primaries.
In the wake of the DNC Chair race, Sam created Our Voice, a 501(C)(4) organization aimed towards giving progressives the tools they need to succeed in local races.
Wanting to affect real change in D.C., Sam has announced his candidacy Steve Chabot’s congressional seat in Ohio’s 1st Congressional District. Sam will run a grassroots, small donor campaign, not accepting Wall Street or special interest money.
Sam’s vision for Ohio and America includes creating thousands of living wage jobs through growth in renewable energy, supporting legislation to make public colleges and universities tuition free, and guaranteeing health care as a right to ALL, not a privilege for the elites by supporting Rep. John Conyers’ H.R. 676 Medicare-For-All bill.
