Thank you for your Support

Official Press Release

By Samuel Ronan

Ladies and gentlemen I would like to thank you from the very bottom of my heart for your support on Election Day! I know it was an uncontested primary and you didn’t have to come out with so much support so when 4,100+ of you came out there and voted it showed how much you care about our Democracy! What’s more you showed this much support despite my having been away from home accomplishing Military Training in Mississippi. I want to let you all know that I will not be idle upon my return, that there is a lot of work to be done to best Scott Lipps and the Republicans in general, but that I can assure you I am more than up to the task!

We are on a trajectory to reclaim the General Assembly this year, with that reality within our grasp we must continue to remain vigilant. Unfortunately, this election year has shown some ugly truths in our nation. We The People are afraid, we are angry, and we are fed up with the corruption in both our government and private sector. This has manifested itself in the form of Donald Trump and Ted Cruz who have gained unprecedented popularity among their party for: racism, misogyny, xenophobia, gender phobia, intolerance, and a blatant disregard for the needs of the American People! What we see as a result is at least 1/6 of our nations voters rallying around these two men because they want someone to blame, they want someone to focus their anger and fear against, and these two men have provided the same scapegoat that corrupt leaders have always provided: the weak, the few, those not responsible!

It is our duty as American’s to fulfill our obligations and responsibilities under the Constitution of the United States of America, but more so to encourage the rest to do so as well. That doesn’t mean rant and rave, shout down the “Republicans” tell them how foolish they are being, because that simply won’t work. We must talk to them, figure out what it is they fear most, and reassure them that the Democratic candidates can and will accomplish those things. Most of the problems we face in our society today are nonpartisan issues!

It is not partisan that wages have stagnated for the past 40 years, or that the standard of living has risen. It is not partisan that the wealthiest members of society are paying less in taxes and placing that burden firmly on our shoulders disproportionately. It is not a partisan issue that Health Care costs have continued to rise for millions of Americans or that millions still lack health coverage, or opt for the fine as opposed to paying over $5,000 in annual premiums that many of us simply cannot afford! It is not partisan that the job market has given rise to too many unskilled positions and not enough skilled labor positions. It is not partisan that the cost of an education, even an Associates, or certificate have risen so high over the past several years and that we as a nation have accumulated over $2 trillion in student loan debt! The list goes on…

These are problems that we all face regardless of political affiliation, regardless of sexual orientation, religious belief, race, educational accomplishment, or social status. These are the problems that we as working Americans face each and every single day, and until we recognize that fact and tackle the issues with that recognition in mind we will continue to draw lines in the sand and fail to work together as the diverse, multifaceted nation that we are!

That is how we win the general Assembly in November, that is how we get our friends, family, and neighbors to register and to vote. That is how we solve the social and domestic problems we face in 2016 and beyond! We have to start working together and seeing the problems in our country for what they are: American problems! It will not be easy, it will not be simple, but it is absolutely necessary that we do so! I ask of you to not give up hope, to talk to your Conservative friends about the problems we face, together as equals and countrymen. I ask that we start working together with our Republican and Independent counterparts and show them that through a unified effort we and we will make a difference!

Once again I would like to thank each and every single one of you for your support even when you didn’t have to! You have given me renewed strength and resolve to see this through to the very end, and what’s more that I can win, that we can win, and that we can start to fix the problems we face in our Nation!
